WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has sharply criticised the United Kingdom and other allied nations over reliance on global energy routes affected by tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, telling them to “go get your own oil.”
In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump urged countries facing fuel supply disruptions to purchase oil directly from the United States or secure their own access through strategic maritime routes.
“You’ll have to start learning how to fight for yourself, the USA won’t be there to help you anymore, just like you weren’t there for us,” he wrote, signalling frustration over allied burden-sharing in global security matters.
His remarks come amid renewed concerns over the stability of key shipping lanes in the Gulf region, which are vital for international oil and fuel transportation.
