The International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed that Iran has reported a projectile striking near the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant on Tuesday evening.
According to the agency, no damage has been reported at the facility, and there were no injuries among staff.
Meanwhile, Rosatom, Russia’s state-owned nuclear energy company, condemned the incident and called for restraint around the facility.
In a statement, Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev strongly denounced the attack and urged all parties involved in the conflict to make every effort to de-escalate tensions in the vicinity of the nuclear plant.
The company noted that the strike occurred in an area adjacent to a metrology services building within the plant’s site, close to an operational power unit. It also confirmed that radiation levels around the facility remain normal.
The Bushehr plant, originally initiated by a German company in the 1970s and later completed by Russia, continues to operate without disruption.
Separately, Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, cited by Tasnim News Agency, stated that a projectile hit an area near the power plant.
