Florida to Rename Palm Beach Airport After Trump

Florida: Florida lawmakers have approved a bill to rename Palm Beach International Airport after President Donald Trump.
The measure passed the state Senate on Thursday in a 25–11 vote, with opposition coming from Democratic lawmakers. The approval follows Tuesday’s vote in the Florida House of Representatives, where the bill cleared 81–30.
The proposal now heads to Governor Ron DeSantis for his signature. The name change would also require approval from the Federal Aviation Administration before taking effect. According to the bill’s text, the change would be implemented at the beginning of July.
Supporters say the move recognizes Trump’s ties to the area. Republican State Representative Meg Weinberger, a co-sponsor of the bill, noted that the president resides roughly five miles from the airport.
Trump, originally from New York, changed his primary residence to Florida in 2019, designating his Mar-a-Lago property in Palm Beach as his permanent home.
The White House has not yet issued a public comment on the proposal.
