A second-year BTech student lost his life early Saturday morning after allegedly jumping from the fourth floor of his hostel in Greater Noida’s Knowledge Park 3. The deceased, identified as Udit Soni, a native of the Jhansi district, reportedly took the fatal leap following a confrontation with hostel management and his family over the consumption of alcohol. According to Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Sudhir Kumar, Soni had returned to the premises on Friday night with two friends after drinking.

The hostel staff, upon noticing his condition, reprimanded him for violating residence rules and recorded a video of the encounter, which they subsequently forwarded to his father, Vijay Soni. The situation escalated when the student’s father, after viewing the footage, placed a phone call to his son to scold him.

During the conversation, the father reportedly threatened to remove him from the college and bring him back to their hometown. Distressed by the reprimand and the looming consequences, the student jumped from the fourth floor shortly after the call. Although he was immediately rushed to a nearby medical facility, he was declared dead on arrival. Police have since taken the student's body for a post-mortem examination and have completed the necessary legal formalities with the family present.

As part of the ongoing investigation, authorities have taken two individuals into custody to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the confrontation and whether any additional factors contributed to the student's distress. Knowledge Park, a significant educational hub, has seen increased scrutiny regarding student welfare and the methods used by hostel administrations to handle disciplinary issues in the wake of this incident.
