Putin Attends Flag-Raising Ceremony for New Nuclear Submarine 'Knyaz Pojarskiy'

Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in the official flag-raising ceremony of the Knyaz Pojarskiy, the newest nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine under the Borey-A class project, reaffirming the strategic importance of Russia’s submarine navy.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Putin highlighted that the missile carriers built under the Borey-A project are the backbone of the country’s naval strategic nuclear forces. He emphasized that these vessels will play a critical role in safeguarding Russia’s security in the years ahead, particularly with the scope they offer for future modernization.
Following the ceremony, the President chaired a meeting in Severodvinsk focused on the ongoing development and expansion of Russia's submarine fleet. The discussions were centered on enhancing technological capabilities and sustaining maritime defense strength.
During the event, President Putin also addressed the tragic plane crash in the Amur Region. Expressing deep condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims, he led a minute of silence in their memory.
The Knyaz Pojarskiy is the latest addition to Russia's strategic naval fleet, reflecting continued investment in underwater deterrence amid evolving global security dynamics.
