Bahrain and France have reaffirmed their strong partnership during a high-level meeting held today in Paris, aimed at boosting cooperation across political, economic, educational, and cultural fields.
Bahrain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, met with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noël Barrot, at the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs. The two ministers exchanged views on key regional and international developments and expressed a shared commitment to maintaining a global order based on stability, peace, and prosperity—particularly in the Middle East.
Both sides agreed on the importance of continued close coordination on pressing global and regional challenges. They also looked ahead to enhanced cooperation at the United Nations Security Council, following Bahrain’s election as a non-permanent member beginning in January 2026.
Following their bilateral meeting, the ministers jointly inaugurated the fourth session of the Bahraini-French High Committee, co-chaired by Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa, Director General of Bilateral Relations at Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Romarik Rouillon, Director for the Middle East and North Africa at the French Ministry.
The session brought together senior officials and representatives from key government bodies in both countries. Discussions focused on evaluating progress in bilateral cooperation and identifying new areas of strategic partnership.
Both sides highlighted the importance of boosting investment and trade, especially in strategic sectors that contribute to sustainable economic growth and energy transformation. They also expressed their readiness to deepen collaboration in this space.
In education and culture, Bahrain and France emphasized the value of promoting the French language and welcomed initiatives to bring French expertise to Bahrain for long-term cultural and educational projects.
The two countries stressed the importance of maintaining their mutually beneficial partnership and encouraged more high-level visits and exchanges to maintain momentum in their growing relationship.
Looking ahead, Bahrain and France plan to review the outcomes of today’s meeting during the next session of the High Committee, scheduled to be held in Bahrain in 2026.
