Sustainability Steals the Spotlight at ADSW Fashion Show
Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) 2026 featured a dedicated Sustainable Fashion Show highlighting the growing intersection between fashion, clean energy and environmental responsibility. The event was held under the theme ‘Green Energy’ as part of the Blue Forum, co-hosted by Masdar and the Sino-International Entrepreneurs Federation (SIEF).
The show was jointly organized by the International Youth Innovation Summit (YSS) and global sustainable fashion platform ReVougeX, bringing together designers, sustainability leaders and innovators to explore how fashion can contribute to global sustainable development.
Held on January 14, the event was attended by YSS Executive Chairman Ma Fei, ReVougeX Co-founder Alice Ho, and senior figures from international sustainability and creative industries. Through fashion as a universal medium, the show examined the relationship between energy, ecology and human life, positioning sustainable design as a driver of future industrial innovation.
William Wang, Chief Representative for the Middle East and Africa at SIEF, highlighted the broader significance of the initiative.
“Fashion can be a powerful vehicle for positive change,” he said. “This show celebrated creativity that respects people, the planet and future generations. Through platforms such as the Blue Forum, SIEF supports sustainability not only through business and investment, but also through cultural and creative exchange.”
More than a conventional runway presentation, the show aimed to serve as a cross-disciplinary platform uniting global creators, industry leaders and change-makers. Its curatorial vision focused on three key principles: respect for natural resources, a design philosophy rooted in circularity and regeneration, and harmony between technological innovation and human values.
The runway featured collections from five designers representing diverse cultural perspectives:
-
Lucy Tammam (UK) presented closed-loop systems using local cotton, peace silk and bio-based leather, alongside regenerated archival fabrics.
-
Evelin Fink (Austria) applied architectural design principles, transforming materials such as Piñatex® pineapple fiber and Seaqual® recycled marine yarn into modular, multi-functional garments.
-
Jiang Shanzi (China) showcased her concept of “Oriental Intelligent Sustainability,” integrating leftover yarns, heritage Xiangyunsha silk and zero-waste traditional Chinese cutting techniques.
-
Roni Helou (Lebanon) focused on upcycling, reworking recycled military fabrics and surplus tailoring materials into narrative-driven ready-to-wear designs.
-
Suad Al Fardan (UAE) explored sustainable fashion that balances cultural identity with contemporary design through modular interpretations of traditional silhouettes.
Jiang Shanzi’s collection received particular acclaim for its refined balance between heritage craftsmanship and modern sustainability. Her work conveyed a sustainable lifestyle philosophy rooted in cultural continuity, earning strong recognition from international audiences and distinguished guests, while encouraging cross-cultural dialogue between Eastern aesthetics and the global sustainability movement.
