Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence has finally joined Instagram, but she already has a condition for staying on the platform.
In her first video, Lawrence warned followers that she would quit immediately if she sees anything negative.
“So, yeah, I’m giving it a shot, and if anyone says anything negative, I will quit immediately,” she said.
The 36-year-old actress launched her verified account, @jlaw, on September 9, with the profile explaining the handle simply: “jenniferlawrence is taken.”
She quickly attracted nearly 800,000 followers and celebrity inclusions including Leonardo DiCaprio, Martin Scorsese, Josh Hutcherson, Dakota Johnson and Suki Waterhouse.
Lawrence had stayed away from social media for more than a decade. In 2014, she said she struggled with technology and warned fans that accounts using her name were not genuine.
Her decision to join Instagram marks a major shift from her earlier stance on social media. Lawrence had previously spoken about feeling uncomfortable with public scrutiny that comes with being a celebrity. Her playful warning suggests she may be testing the waters — but whether she sticks around could depend on how kindly Instagram users treat her.
