HyperMax Marks First Anniversary in Bahrain, Establishing Strong Retail Presence and Local Impact

Retailer celebrates operational growth, local workforce development, and community partnerships, while bringing customers compelling promotions, substantial discounts, and in-store experiences across the Kingdom.

HyperMax, the grocery retail brand wholly owned and operated by Majid Al Futtaim in Bahrain, is marking its first anniversary in the Kingdom, celebrating one year of delivering exceptional value, quality, and a trusted shopping experience to its customers, while expanding partnerships with local suppliers and producers, and continuing to invest in the communities it serves.

During its first year, HyperMax has successfully opened six stores across the Kingdom, and introduced the HyperMax mobile app, home delivery services, and the HyMax Rewards programme, expanding the ways customers can shop and engage with the brand.

To mark the milestone and thank customers for their continued loyalty and support, HyperMax has launched a month-long anniversary campaign featuring compelling promotions and major discounts across selected food and non-food categories.

A “Shop & Win” anniversary campaign activation will run across stores and online, offering shoppers the chance to win a range of prizes, including free shopping for a year and select electronics and home essentials. Additionally, digital platform users can win free home delivery for a year. Throughout the month, HyperMax stores will also host a programme of weekend activities, including children’s workshops, supplier sampling experiences, and community-focused activations.

Members of the HyMax loyalty programme will receive access to exclusive promotions, special discounts and member-only prize draws.

Mohamad El Khatib, Country Manager at Majid Al Futtaim Retail – HyperMax Bahrain, said: “Our first year in Bahrain has been about establishing strong foundations while becoming an integral part of the community we serve. Alongside building our retail and digital offering, we have worked to create opportunities for Bahraini talent, strengthen our relationships with local suppliers and farmers, and support initiatives that contribute to the wider community.”

He added: “This progress directly reflects Majid Al Futtaim’s ethos of helping customers shop smarter and live better everyday, while contributing to socio-economic growth across the region. As we celebrate our first anniversary, we want to thank everyone who has been part of this journey and look forward to building on this momentum in the years ahead.”

HyperMax is supported by a strong local supply ecosystem, working with more than 250 local suppliers and regional SMEs. The majority of seasonal fresh produce is locally sourced, supporting active participation from local producers and farmers.

Reflecting this commitment, the retailer launched “Khairat Al Bahrain”, an initiative bringing Bahraini farmers, producers, and SMEs together under one platform at Bahrain Mall. The initiative involved more than 25 local suppliers and farmers, maximising visibility for locally produced goods.

HyperMax has also made significant progress in developing its local workforce. Through a dedicated Workforce Localisation initiative aligned with the national local hiring strategy introduced in early 2026, its Bahrainisation rate reached 38%, representing the proportion of Bahraini nationals employed within its workforce and making HyperMax the Kingdom's leading organisation for local hiring across all brands during that period. The retailer has also created 500 direct and 150 indirect job opportunities, further showcasing its commitment to developing local talent and supporting Bahrain’s economic growth.

Community engagement has formed another key part of HyperMax’s presence in Bahrain. The retailer partnered with the Royal Humanitarian Foundation, the Kingdom’s largest charitable organisation, and established long-term partnerships with local food banks and agricultural initiatives to support local food security and sustainability.

Additionally, the retailer collaborated with diverse community groups to bring National Day traditions and cultural festivals into its stores, creating year-round spaces for cultural celebration.

As HyperMax enters its second year in Bahrain, the retailer will continue to advance its omnichannel retail and digital offering, deepen partnerships with local suppliers and SMEs, and invest in modern, accessible shopping experiences designed around the evolving needs of customers across the Kingdom.
