Bahrain reiterates call for immediate Gaza ceasefire at NAM

Bahrain Foreign Affairs Minister HE Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani reiterated the Kingdom's appeal for an immediate cessation of the conflict in the Gaza Strip during his address at the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Kampala, Uganda.

Emphasising Bahrain's strong opposition to the forced displacement of Palestinians from their land, Dr. Al Zayani stressed the Kingdom's commitment to a diplomatic approach.

Advocating for the protection of civilians, the release of hostages and detainees, the delivery of humanitarian aid, and the alleviation of civilian suffering in Gaza, the minister called for prioritising peaceful solutions.

Bahrain, he said, rejects forced displacement and supports the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in alignment with the two-state solution and international legitimacy resolutions.

Dr. Al Zayani also urged concerted global efforts to ensure free and secure maritime navigation in the Red Sea, emphasising the importance of this for global security and peace.
