MMA: final qualifier at Khalifa sports city

A final qualifying round of the National Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Championship takes place on May 28 at Khalifa Sports City in Isa Town under the patronage of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport First Deputy Chairman and Bahrain Athletics Association President Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa and organised by Khalid bin Hamad Foundation.

Shaikh Khalid noted the sport is popular worldwide and interest in the Gulf and Arab region is growing particularly among the youth including Bahrain.

Qualifying has taken place in March and April and Shaikh Khalid expressed his happiness at the achievements so far and the increased technical level amongst the participants, who hope to become a member of the KHK MMA Team and represent Bahrain in various International events, including the UFC Championship to be held next July in US.

A medical examination for the participants was being held last night at Al Hilal Specialist Hospital in East Riffa, which is part of the rules and regulations of the event.

Organising committee members have named Bahrain City Centre as the venue to host the weigh-in for the event and the press conference for participants on May 27.
