Quran teacher sexually abuses 6- year-old between lessons

A 40-year-old Quran teacher sexually abused a 6-year-old student on multiple occasions during lessons, the High Criminal Court heard.

He was caught after video files showing the victim naked were fortuitously seen by her family on his phone.

The victim's brother found the video when he reportedly took the accused's phone to delete his images the latter captured without permission.

The brother then informed about this to their father, who in turn seized the phone from the defendant. As he browsed through it, he was shocked to see many videos in which the child appeared naked.

Some footages showed him kissing the child on her mouth and sexually abusing her, according to court files.

The 6-year-old said he sexually assaulted in every single lesson.

"He used to come to our house and take Quran lessons for my children for BD30," the father said in his statement. "I once saw him putting her on his thigh and kissing her cheek, but I didn't take it seriously because I thought he was a good man.”

"I discovered that he was sexually abusing my daughter after my son saw a video footage on his phone showing my daughter naked. I took his phone and saw many similar footages of the same."

The accused said during investigations he “didn't know why” he filmed the child while she was naked. "It was just an idea to record her without clothing," he said.

Investigators found other nude pictures and pornographic videos on his mobile phone but he denied downloading any of them. "This is a second-hand phone that I bought from a mobile shop. These videos don't belong to me," he claimed.

He has been charged with sexually abusing a minor. His case was adjourned until June 25 to assign a lawyer for him.
