Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa has stressed the importance of harnessing all the efforts to enhance the spirit of joint teamwork.

It is the basis for success in overcoming various challenges, including the global economic and social challenges caused by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Shaikh Salman added.

He was addressing the closing ceremony of the Global Think Tanks Summit 2021 yesterday.

The Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International, and Energy Studies (Derasat), in partnership with the Think Tank and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) of The Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania, held the 2021 edition under the theme, “Global Trends and Transitions in Think Tanks, Politics and Policy Advice in the Age of Policy Dilemmas and Disruptions”.

Shaikh Salman said that Team Bahrain, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, and Prime Minister, put in place a strategy to combat the pandemic and step up the vaccination campaign.

He pointed out that the Kingdom of Bahrain has ranked first globally in the Nikkei COVID-19 Recovery Index for November 2021, following a drop in active cases, increase in vaccination rollout, and continued adherence to health precautionary measures aimed at mitigating the virus.

The minister stressed the importance of the forum, commending the participation of experts and thinkers who discussed geostrategic threats resulting from the pandemic.

DERASAT Board of Trustees’ Chairman Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa announced the launch of the Global Network for Women in Think Tanks to prepare women to assume leadership positions in think tanks.

He underlined Bahraini women’s landmark strides over the past 22 years, highlighting their pivotal role and contributions to national development, supported by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
