Unity is the region’s source of strength: King Hamad

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa yesterday affirmed the firm commitment of Bahrain to peace, dialogue and coexistence, stressing “unity” as a source of strength for all stakeholders in the region and abroad.

Bahrain, HM the King said, is committed to opening “communication channels” to settle any stalled issues.

King Hamad said this as he received at Sakhir Palace senior participants in the 17th Manama Dialogue organised by the International Institute for Strategic Studies in cooperation with Bahrain’s foreign ministry.

Welcoming the participants, HM the King hailed Manama Dialogue as a key regional platform to exchange viewpoints and visions on consolidating regional security.

King Hamad also expressed pride in Bahrain’s success in overcoming the pandemic during its worst surges, lauding the National Medical Taskforce for Combating COVID-19, led by HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

On the challenges, King Hamad said the security and stability of the Middle East are threatened continuously by hostile actors amid mounting challenges.

In this regard, King Hamad highlighted the need to protect the freedom of navigation and commercial sea routes that serve the entire global economy from hostile actions.

HM King further highlighted the signing of Abrahams Accords as Bahrain’s “principled and courageous approach to achieving peace as the supreme goal of our region and all its peoples”.

Later in the day, His Majesty hosted a dinner banquet in honour of senior participants in the Manama Dialogue.
