Bahrain register 61,051 cases for not wearing facemasks

Bahrain is continuing to ensure strict compliance with COVID-19 measures, with the Interior Ministry registering 8,579 cases for breaching social distancing protocols and 61,051 for not wearing facemasks in public settings until this Thursday.

Brigadier Dr Shaikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, the Public Security Assistant Chief for Operations and Training Affairs, said the ministry also carried out 7023 awareness campaigns until March 18.

Civil Defence officials carried out 213,207 cleanings and sterilisation operation in buildings, government facilities, streets, roads, etc., during the period. “The authority is also continuing to hold training sessions on correct methods of disinfection and sterilisation operations,” said Dr Sheikh Hamad.

The courses organised by the Civil Defence had 1,173 people from the private sector and 1,051 people from the public sector.

Volunteers taking part in the campaigns reached 6,059, said the Brigadier General, adding they took part in 1,521 disinfection and sterilisation operations. Civil Defence officials trained 1,230 people to sterilise mosques.

Authorities also carried out 107 disinfection operation with the participation of cleaning companies. “Since the start of the pandemic, the National Ambulance centre received 7,110 calls and had dealt with them all through a qualified team.”

“Actions taken by the ministry of transport in this regard had reached 26,898,” Dr Shaikh Hamad said, adding they also transferred 81,421 cases.

Dr Shaikh Hamad called on citizens and residents to adhere strictly to all precautionary measures to limit the pandemic.
