Manama

Galleria, an all-new family shopping and recreation destination, will open its doors to customers by February next year, offering a first of its kind retail and dining experience in Bahrain.

Strategically located in Al Zinj on the Shaikh Isa Bin Salman Highway that links Saudi Arabia to Bahrain, the development has been conceived as a boutique/strip mall, sprawling across a plot area of 30,000 square metres and boasting a total built-up area of over 42,000 square metres.

A project by leading Bahraini developer Dadabhai Group, the open layout mall includes a massive 12,800 square metres hypermarket, extending over two floors.

The development is progressing on schedule with 95 per cent work completed and a key milestone of 680,000 man-hours completed at site without any incident.

The electrical works, finishing works, Aluminium Cladding Panel installation, stone cladding, granite cladding, painting, pipe lines for Fire Fighting works and remaining heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) works are in the final stages of completion.

The main contractor is Dadabhai Construction whose CEO Ajith Kumar said, “We have used new techniques and processes in the building and construction ensuring the highest quality and safety in line with international standards.”

The project will be ready for handover of units to tenants for commencement of fit-out works by November.

All-in-one experience

Aziz Mithaiwala Managing Director of Pegasus Real Estate who are the strategic consultants and exclusive leasing and management representatives of the project commented: “Our research suggested a lack of an all-in-one shopping experience in the area where multiple stores open on to wide outdoor spaces for families to gather in a relaxed environment offering a multitude of options for all age groups for their shopping, dining and recreational needs.”

As much as 12,350 square metres has been set aside for shopping and dining spaces featuring prominent fashion brands and international and new-to-Bahrain food and beverage franchises and eateries.

In addition, visitors will also have at their disposal, 3 dedicated floors of parking for over 580 cars, as well as several convenient outdoor parking spaces.

90pc leased out

Mithaiwala said 90 per cent of the project is leased out and limited units are remaining.

There has been a marked improvement in retail and hospitality space in the country over the last two quarters as evidenced by rising numbers of visitors from across the causeway, show reports by international real estate consultants.

Mithaiwala said Galleria tenants include a large hypermarket as the anchor store, apparel boutiques, home furnishings, banks, coffee shops, retail and utility stores, casual dining restaurants, Arabic cafes, dessert places, pharmacies, sports wear and equipment, etc.

“The project will be a refreshing addition to Central Manama, offering modern architecture and open layout design, lush landscapes and tree-lined avenues, as opposed to closed recreational and shopping centres.

First stop from Saudi

Expansive glass facades, elegant tree-lined walkways and tranquil water features, harmoniously combine to bring alive a destination that sublimely merges the charm of the outdoors with elegant designs that can be experienced indoors.

“The mall is expected to attract customers from all over Bahrain and its main catchment areas of Al Zinj, Al Mahooz, Adliya, Umm Al Hassam, Tubli, and Gudaibiya which house a substantially large cosmopolitan population,” said Aziz Mithaiwala.

Located directly on the Shaikh Isa bin Salman highway it will be the first stop for visitors from Saudi Arabia and is a short drive away from Tubli, Janabiya, Jasra, Saar and Hamala.

“The major attraction will be its clean, minimalist layout which will feature a greater floor space, aesthetically designed walking aisles, in store better and state-of-the-art shelving, all adding up to provide a truly international shopping experience for visitors.”
