The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) carried out 4,003 inspection campaigns and visits across Bahrain during May 2026 as part of ongoing efforts to maintain a fair, stable and competitive labour market.
According to the authority, the operations resulted in the detention of 129 violating and irregular workers, while 324 individuals found to be in violation of labour and residency regulations were deported following the completion of legal procedures.
The inspections identified a number of violations related to the Labour Market Regulatory Authority Law and residency regulations in the Kingdom. The LMRA confirmed that appropriate legal action was taken against those found to be in breach of the law.
The authority reported that 3,879 inspection visits were conducted at commercial establishments across all four governorates, alongside 124 joint inspection campaigns carried out in coordination with relevant government agencies.
Of the joint campaigns, 48 were conducted in the Capital Governorate, 25 in Muharraq Governorate, 26 in the Northern Governorate and 25 in the Southern Governorate.
Several government entities participated in the inspections, including the Ministry of Interior through the Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA), the General Directorate of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, the General Directorate of Crime Detection and Forensic Science, the General Directorate of Traffic and the police directorates of the respective governorates.
Other participating bodies included the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) and the Social Insurance Organization (SIO).
The LMRA reaffirmed its commitment to continuing joint coordination with government agencies to intensify inspection efforts throughout the Kingdom and address violations and illegal practices that could affect labour market stability, competitiveness, economic activity and social security.
The authority also renewed its call for public cooperation in combating illegal labour practices by reporting violations through the electronic reporting service available on its website, via its call centre, or through the government’s Tawasul suggestions and complaints platform.
The inspections form part of Bahrain’s ongoing efforts to regulate the labour market, uphold compliance with labour and residency laws and ensure a fair working environment for all participants in the economy.
