MPs Join Riyadh Parliamentary Talks
The Parliamentary Group will join the 39th conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union by video link, with the Riyadh meeting running from 9 to 11 June under the title ‘An Arab Parliamentary Vision for a More Stable and Sustainable Future’.
The delegation will be led by Speaker Ahmed Al Musallam, chairman of the executive committee of Bahrain’s Parliamentary Group.
The Bahraini side will also take part in the virtual GCC co-ordination meeting held alongside the conference, as well as the 42nd meeting of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union’s executive committee.
That meeting will discuss the report of the union’s general secretariat, the report of the temporary financial committee, the report of the temporary parliamentary diplomacy committee, and the Arab group’s nomination for the presidency of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
On the sidelines of the conference, the executive committee of secretaries-general will meet, along with the 47th meeting of the Association of Secretaries-General of Arab Parliaments.
Those talks will cover the role of research and information centres in guiding parliamentary decisions and improving legislative work.
The Bahraini delegation includes MP Ahmed Abdulwahid Qarata, Second Deputy Speaker; Shura Council member Talal Al Mannai; MP Hisham Al Awadhi; Shura Council member Fatima Al Kawheji; Mohammed Al Sisi Al Buainain, Secretary-General of Parliament and secretary of the Parliamentary Group; and Karima Al Abbasi, Secretary-General of the Shura Council.
