Visuals speak

When a Bahraini MP tried his skills in videography, he might have not thought about the consequences of his act. In a bizarre incident, the Bahraini MP was assaulted by another Kuwaiti MP at a gathering organised by the Bahraini opposition in Geneva, Switzerland on Tuesday.

Bahrain Parliament Foreign Affairs, Defence and National Security Committee Deputy Chairman Jamal Buhassan was allegedly attacked by Kuwaiti National Assembly member Abdulhameed Dashti after the first session of the event was concluded.

Speaking to DT News yesterday over telephone, Buhassan said Dashti attacked him after he took the video of him engaging in an argument with a journalist.

“While they were arguing, I took a video of the heated argument in my mobile phone. Suddenly, Dashti aggressively snatched the phone from my hand and walked away,” Buhassan said.

Dashti apparently took the phone to the security office. Meanwhile, Buhassan alleged that Dashti had damaged his mobile phone. So he lodged an official complaint against Dashti. “This is a shameful and an immoral act from an MP,” he commented.

After several activists and online news agencies reported that Dashti was attacked by a group of Bahrainis and Libyans at Four Seasons Hotel in Geneva, Dashti on his official Twitter account posted: “I’m fine and having my delicious breakfast at the hotel.”

Commenting on the circulated pictures of him lying on a hospital bed, Dashti said it was an old picture when he underwent a cardiac surgery.

Abdulhameed Dashti is a controversial member of the Kuwaiti National Assembly (Parliament). He is known for his Iran-supporting statements, and he was recently condemned by several governments in the GCC for interfering in their internal affairs.

The conference was organised in Geneva by several members, who apparently represent the Bahraini opposition.
