Manama

Minister of Information Affairs Isa bin Abdulrahman Al Hammadi stressed the role of national media as key partner of the bicameral parliament in boosting democratic and development achievements. He underlined the pivotal role of the Parliament in maintaining national security and stability and fighting all forms of local and foreign terrorism.

He was speaking as he received the Representatives Council First Deputy Speaker Ali Abdullah Al Aradi, Deputy Head of the Public Utilities and Environment Committee MP Ghazi Al Rahma, Financial and Economic Affairs Committee member MP Jalal Kadhim and Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee member MP Hamad Al Dousari yesterday. Directors and officials from the Information Affairs Authority (IAA) also attended the meeting.

The Information Affairs Minister welcomed the MPs, lauding their dedicated national efforts to foster the democratic experience in Bahrain by exercising their legislative and monitoring prerogatives and following up on the implementation of the reform and development schemes in coordination with the executive branch.

He also congratulated MP Ali Al Aradi on winning a seat at the International Parliamentary Union’s Human Rights Committee. He praised unity of the Bahraini people and their loyalty to the leadership, stressing their honourable and responsible stances in supporting the efforts of the security and military forces to preserve security and stability in Bahrain, the GCC countries and the Arab nation by combating violence, extremism and terrorism.

The minister also commended condemnation of foreign interferences, hailing the active participation of MPs and representatives of the civil society in various radio and TV programmes to boost social awareness, raise issues of interest to citizens and back national procedures to maintain security and stability, fight terrorism and support participation of BDF troops within the Saudi-led Arab Coalition to defend legitimacy in Yemen.
