Speaker attends launch of Arab Women’s Rights Charter

Council of Representatives Council Speaker Fawziya Zainal paid tribute to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for the landmark strides attained, enabling Bahraini women to move from the phase of empowerment to the phase of progress.  She also hailed the vision of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and Supreme Council for Women (SCW) President, which contributed to Bahraini women’s development and progress in all fields. 

The Speaker made the statement as she attended the main session to launch the Arab Charter on Women’s Rights”, under the patronage of Her Highness Shaikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF). UAE Federal National Council (FNC) President Dr Amal Abdulla Al Qubaisi, Arab Parliament Speaker Dr Mishaal bin Fahm Al Salami, in addition to a number of Arab and international parliamentarians and personalities. 

The Speaker highlighted the  launch of the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women, and   the Bahraini Women’s Day on the 1st of December of each year, pointing out the centennial of formal education in Bahrain which will be celebrated this year.  She underlined the establishment of equal opportunity units in public and private sector enterprises in support of Bahraini women’s development and empowerment, highlighting the launch of the Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Global Award for Women’s Empowerment.

She lauded the strategic and solid relations binding the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa and UAE President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan. She also praised cooperation between Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and Supreme Council for Women (SCW) President and HH Shaikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF).
