Police station attackers pleas rejected

The High Appeals Court yesterday rejected appeals from two defendants convicted of attacking a police station in 2013, for which they received 15 years behind bars each.

The appellants were among 22 defendants tried in connection with carrying out an assault against Al Khamees Police Station, although police records indicate that the number of the attackers were 40, meaning 18 of the culprits haven’t been identified. The perpetrators are said to have used firebombs in their attack in an effort to set it on fire.

The defendants were charged with assaulting a police station, possessing firebombs and rioting. All the defendants were earlier handed down 15 years in prison each.
