Bahrain wins triathlon gold in Tunisia
The Bahrain Special Olympics team secured the gold medal in the Unified Triathlon competition at the 10th Regional Special Olympics Games for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Beach Sports, held in Sousse, Tunisia.
The regional event, which ran from June 16 to 22, 2026, brought together athletes from across the region competing in various beach sports disciplines.
Bahrain delivered a strong performance to finish first in the Unified Triathlon, securing the gold medal ahead of the Tunisia Special Olympics team, which claimed silver, while Libya finished third to take the bronze medal.
The Bahraini achievement was delivered by team members Albaraa Mohammed, who competed in the swimming segment, Mahmoud Mohsen in the running event, and Sayed Ali Hussein in cycling. The trio showcased strong teamwork and coordination throughout the competition.
The victory follows intensive preparations by the Bahraini delegation and highlights the growing regional standing of Bahrain Special Olympics, as the team continues to achieve strong results at regional and international sporting events.
Members of the Bahraini delegation expressed their pride in the achievement, saying the gold medal will motivate the team to continue striving for excellence and represent Bahrain successfully in upcoming competitions.
