With a large turnout, participants gathered in Manama and moved in quiet synchrony for more than half an hour as Bahrain marked the International Day of Yoga, emphasizing unity, harmony, and shared wellbeing.

The event, held at the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam hall, brought together people of different ages, nationalities and backgrounds. Children stood alongside older adults, while men and women followed the same guided movements in a shared rhythm reflecting calm and coordination.

Organised by the Embassy of India in Bahrain, the gathering celebrated yoga as a practice that originated in India but has grown into a global discipline focused on physical and mental wellbeing.

Speaking at the event, former Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Abdulnabi Al Shoala said yoga has evolved into a universal concept that promotes inner balance and strengthens human connections. He noted that social harmony often begins with individual wellbeing and understanding.

He also highlighted the importance of cultural initiatives in strengthening ties between Bahraini and Indian communities, describing such events as meaningful bridges between people and nations.

The Indian Ambassador to Bahrain, Vinod K. Jacob echoed similar views, saying yoga has become a symbol of solidarity that now extends far beyond its country of origin. He welcomed the growing participation of Bahrainis and other residents, noting that the practice reflects shared values of health, respect and coexistence.
