Tributes paid to top Indian social reformer

Aligarh Muslim University Alumni Association Bahrain (AMUAAB) celebrated their founder Sir Syed Ahmed Khan’s 201st birth anniversary on Sunday. The event was attended by over 275 people and is considered to be the biggest gathering of AMU alumni in Bahrain till date.

The event stressed on spreading the values and messages emphasised by Sir Syed Ahmed Khan to educate and uplift the downtrodden sections of the society. Many dignitaries including Shura member Dr Fatema Abduljabbar AlKooheji and Anubhav Sinha attended the event.

Speaking to Tribune, Dr Sharique Ahmed, Gen Secretary of AMUAAB said, “The event comes as a part to pay tribute to the great scholar, visionary, social reformer Sir Syed Ahmed Khan where speakers dwelled on the thought process behind establishing this great institution, as well drawing parallels on the relevance of the movement he started and the current education system.”
