Jail term upheld in robbery case
Manama
The High Criminal Court has upheld the sentence that was earlier issued on a Bahraini man convicted of robbery. The 24-year-old was put on trial in connection with robbing an electronics shop in Manama on April 26 this year.
He was arrested red-handed after an Asian man spotted him in the shop and instantly tipped the police. He was seen carrying a DVD player, a tablet, several sunglasses and watches at the time of his arrest. The Asian witness told prosecutors that he had seen the defendant breaking the metal lock before entering the shop.
It was found later that the defendant had used a rental car to reach the shop. According to court files, the defendant was implicated in several other robbery cases.
