New Digital Upgrade Speeds Storage Site Requests

As part of ongoing government efforts to improve service quality and re-engineer government procedures, the Supreme Council for Environment has developed its service for requesting the addition of a storage site.

The upgraded digital service enables establishments to register storage sites for chemicals and refrigerant gases, as well as refrigeration and air-conditioning units. Registering a storage site is a mandatory requirement before any product can be registered for import, strengthening compliance with approved safety and environmental storage requirements.

Under the upgraded service, processing time has been reduced from 20 working days to just seven. This was achieved by reducing required documents and information, automating application submission and review procedures, streamlining the application process, and providing the service fully online.

The service also facilitates data access, supporting greater efficiency in inspection and regulatory activities.

Supreme Council for Environment Chief Executive Officer Amina Hamad Al Rumaihi said the service is part of the council’s efforts to adopt innovative digital solutions that enhance the efficiency of government procedures supporting investment, improve compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements, and facilitate the business environment.

She added that developing the service reflects the council’s commitment to enhancing its services to reduce the time and effort required from institutions and investors while strengthening the effectiveness of the overall work system.

As part of the government’s continued efforts to develop and re-engineer government services, more than 1,300 government services have been documented, translated and published, while 800 services have undergone development and re-engineering across various government sectors.
