Trump to Commemorate 25th Anniversary of 9/11 at the Pentagon

Washington: US President Donald Trump will mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks by attending ceremonies at the Pentagon instead of the central commemoration at Ground Zero in New York City.

The decision stems primarily from long-standing event rules at the National September 11 Memorial and Museum in Manhattan, which has prohibited speeches by politicians since 2012 to maintain a nonpartisan focus on the victims and their families. Because Trump desired to deliver formal public remarks to commemorate the milestone anniversary, his team adjusted plans to hold his address at the Pentagon, where official speeches are permitted.

Travel logistics also played a role, with departing from Joint Base Andrews near Washington presenting fewer operational disruptions ahead of his planned trip to Ireland the following day.

While the president delivers his address in Arlington, Vice President JD Vance will represent the administration at the Ground Zero ceremony in New York, while other senior officials will attend the memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
