Double-parking clogs traffic in East Riffa market

Manama

The double-parking near the market in East Riffa creates problems for the traffic movement on the road, especially after the introduction of new buses on this route.

Buses of route no. 54, plying between East Riffa and Manama pass through this road in a frequency of half an hour. Whenever these buses reach the market road, double parking disrupts their movement. The buses get stuck here because of their large size.

According to a shopkeeper here, traffic congestion has become common here nowadays due to double-parking. “Since the red bus can’t move forward, the long tailback causes here inconvenience to everyone,” he said.

“After waiting for a few minutes, bus drivers resort to honking, causing sound pollution. The buses could move forward only after the vehicle parked on the middle of the road is removed,” he added. “Not only buses, but also other motorists lose their precious time due to double parking.”

A bus driver on condition of anonymity said the roads near East Riffa market were not a problem to drive. “Of course, this is a busy road in Riffa since a lot of shops are located here. But we don’t face any problem here, if there is no double-parking along the road,” he said.
