Bahrain launches new digital systems for medical device regulation
The National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) has launched two new digital systems, “Madar” for registering medical devices and “Tataub” for tracking medical devices and supplies, during an official event attended by government officials, healthcare representatives, and strategic partners.
The Authority said the launch is part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen digital transformation and enhance the regulatory framework governing medical devices and supplies in the Kingdom of Bahrain, in a way that improves healthcare efficiency and upholds the highest standards of quality and safety.
It explained that the “Madar” system aims to automate and streamline the registration process for medical devices, improve service efficiency for manufacturers, agents, and suppliers, and accelerate transaction processing while enhancing transparency and compliance with regulatory requirements in line with the latest approved standards and practices.
The Authority also noted that the “Tataub” system is designed to further strengthen patient safety and improve oversight of medical devices and supplies by tracking them across all stages of the supply chain. The system uses international standards for traceability and unified product identification, ensuring product quality, safety, and easier monitoring.
It added that “Tataub” is the first integrated national platform for tracking medical devices and supplies at the level of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), reflecting Bahrain’s leadership in adopting innovative digital solutions and advancing modern healthcare regulatory systems.
The NHRA stressed that both projects represent a strategic step toward building an integrated digital ecosystem that supports decision-making, enhances operational efficiency, and strengthens regulatory services, reinforcing Bahrain’s position as a regional hub for advanced healthcare regulation and digital innovation.
The event also included the recognition of partners and entities that contributed to the development and implementation of the two systems, in appreciation of their efforts and role in the success of this national initiative, highlighting the importance of collaboration between stakeholders in advancing innovation in Bahrain’s healthcare sector.
