Al Hasan pulls out of BOC Election

Manama Bahrain Maritime Sports Federation vice-president Noaman Al Hasan has pulled out of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) election for the 2017/2020 term, the committee announced yesterday.

Al Hasan refused to justify his decision and was one of the high candidates vying for only seven seats at the BOC. His sudden and unexpected withdrawal brings down the number of candidates to 11 instead of 12.

Meanwhile, the committee to conduct the election tomorrow will comprise three members to be selected by the General Assembly, which is the 37th General Assembly and elections for the 2017/2020 term, which will take place at the Swiss-Bel Hotel in Seef area, where seven members of the upcoming three-year term will be declared.

The 11 candidates to compete for the allocated seven vacancies include presidents of six sports federations - Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa (table tennis), Shaikh Mohammed bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa (swimming), Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa (cycling), Ali Ishaqi (handball), Khalid Al Khayyat (mixed martial arts) and Abdulla Al Dossary (gymanstics).

The remaining five are Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Mubarak Al Khalifa (tennis), Shaikh Hamad bin Rashid Al Khalifa (shooting), Saleh Faraj (fencing), Bader Nasser (athletics) and Adel Al Fayyad (golf).
