March was warmer-than-usual

ManamaThe month of March this year was slightly warmer than normal with temperature remaining above average, according to the monthly weather summary issued by the Meteorological Directorate.

The mean temperature for the month was 21.3 degrees Celsius which is 0.3 degree Celsius above the long-term normal for March which is 21.0 degrees Celsius. The mean maximum temperature of the month was 24.6 degrees Celsius. The highest recorded temperature was 32.2 degrees Celsius recorded on March 13 at Bahrain International Airport. The mean minimum temperature of the month was 18.4 degrees Celsius with the lowest recorded temperature of 14.1 degrees Celsius which was on March 1 at Bahrain International Airport and 11.7 degrees Celsius on the same night in Durrat Al-Bahrain.The month was wet with 11 rainy days which accumulated 40.5 mm of precipitation at Bahrain International Airport. This goes on record as the tenth highest monthly total rainfall for the month of March at Bahrain International Airport since 1902 and three times more than the long-term normal for March which is 14.0 mm. The highest monthly total rainfall recorded in March was 139.2 mm which occurred on March 1995.
