Bahrain Foreign Ministry summons Iraqi Ambassador

Manama: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain summoned today the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Ahmed Naif Rasheed Al Dalimi.

The ministry’s Undersecretary for Regional and GCC Affairs, Ambassador Waheed Mubarak Sayyar, affirmed the condemnation of the Kingdom of Bahrain and its categorical rejection of the statements made by the Vice President of the Republic of Iraq, Nouri Al Maliki, and the spokesman for the Iraqi Foreign Ministry on the judicial sentences carried out against the convicts in the case of targeting the police, demanding to convey this condemnation to the Iraqi government.

Sayyar stressed that the Kingdom of Bahrain fully rejects any form of interference in its independent judiciary, calling for the immediate end of such remarks which are unacceptable interference in the affairs of the Kingdom and a violation of the charters of the United Nations, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League, stressing that such meddling is against the fraternal relations between the two countries and hampers efforts to promote and develop these ties.

The Undersecretary renewed the support of the Kingdom of Bahrain to all that contributes to the achievement of security and stability in Iraq, while emphasising the need for the Iraqi government's commitment to taking all necessary measures that would maintain relations with its brothers and to deterring everything that adversely affects them.
