Bahrain child dies of illness

Manama :A child has died in Bahrain following complications with an illness. The 18-month-old boy Abdullah Mahmood Jassim died on Saturday morning, a local Arabic news paper reported. The boy’s father claimed that his son was wrongly diagnosed at a private hospital in the Kingdom two weeks ago. But his condition deteriorated and he was referred to the King Hamad University Hospital(KHUH) where he succumbed to illness.

Meanwhile National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA), which deals with the complaints related to healthcare in the Kingdom of Bahrain, has started their investigation into the death of two children on Januray first week due to alleged ‘medical negligence’.
A four-year-old Bahraini girl named Layla Khamees died in her father’s arms at Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC) while waiting to be treated. Another Bahraini boy Yousif Madan died on his way to SMC after initially being told he was fine by doctors at SMC. Parents of both children had accused SMC and health centres of negligence adding that their children’s tragic death could have been avoided.
