Porsche GT3 rolls into Dubai

ManamaThe Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East rolls into Dubai this weekend for the second round of Season 8 and already the competition is shaping up to be fiercer than ever, with just eight points separating the top five drivers.

Following a thrilling opening round in Bahrain, all eyes will be on the Dubai Autodrome tomorrow and on Saturday.

Already the new season has shown a new order of racers staking their claim for glory, which is widely recognised as one of the top winter development grounds in the world of motor racing.

Only two of the top five racers have competed in the series before with newcomers Tom Oliphant, Dennis Olsen and current leader, Dylan Pereira, making their debuts in Bahrain last month.

With Ryan Cullen of Ireland competing throughout Season 7 and finishing third overall, and Qatar-based Charlie Frijns taking fifth in the 2015/2016, they look to make their experience count on a track which has been a traditional favourite of GT3 racers.

Bahraini teenage duo of Isa A. Al Khalifa and Isa S. Al Khalifa have both had a great start to season 8 of the championship. The young drivers, who both started their racing careers through professional karting, are competing a full season in the championship for the first time. The new season has seen a flood of newcomers participating and the newly created GCC rookie category gives local drivers the chance to build their skills against racers from around the world, this weekend in Dubai will see almost ten drivers race on the track for the first time.

The second round of the championship featuring the third and fourth races of the twelve race season.
