Suspect to face trial for posting defaming tweet
Manama : A man was arrested for posting a tweet comprising the defamation of a religious symbol and a sect, which is likely to incite sectarian sedition. The Public Prosecution has interrogated the suspect in connection with the case. Earlier the Cyber Crime Directorate had issued a notification to the Public Prosecution on the issue.
Capital Governorate Chief Prosecutor Nawaf Al Awadhi said that the suspect had admitted to posting the tweet on his personal Twitter account. The Public Prosecution has ordered to remand him in custody pending further investigation. He will later be referred to the Criminal Court.
