Hawkins donates his winnings to charity
Manama : The new season at Awali Golf Club got underway last Friday with the annual President vs Captain competition.
Prior to competition, the captain’s drive-in took place on the 10th hole where Bill Scarth battled high winds to land his ball on the fairway.
As part of the drive-in, members purchased a marker for BD1 and placed it on the fairway where they thought the captain’s ball would come to rest.
The winner Andrew Hawkins donated his winnings to be shared among the brown sweepers and the captain’s charity.
There were some competitive contests out on the course with many of the matches being decided on the final hole with the Captain’s team winning by 8.5 to 4.5 points.

Nearest the pin: (hole 4) Essa Al Qatami, (hole 6) Dave Bailey.
Longest putt: (hole 9) Paul McLean, (hole 12) Derek Hutchinson, (hole 14) Nicky Park, (hole 18) Derek Hutchinson.
