Investment in construction sector urged
Manama : Reviewing urban issues, the Cabinet directed to continue efforts to facilitate procedures for obtaining licences that support investment in this field.
The procedures include issuance of construction licences and approval of urban plans as per National Strategic Master Plan.
The session expressed satisfaction with the positive growth of the urban movement in the Kingdom after viewing a presentation given by the Minister of Works on the investment and non-investment building permits and the licensed construction areas.
Figures presented by the minister indicated that during the first eight months of 2016, a total of 7,447 permits, worth BD1.3 billion, had been issued.
These include 685 building permits for investment projects, representing 9pc of the total figure. The permits issued during the first eight months increased by 11pc compared to the same period last year.
