Trial on June 25 in explosives seizure case

Manama

Advocate General and Chief of the Terror Crimes Prosecution Ahmed Al Hammadi said that the Public Prosecution had completed its investigation into the case in which explosive materials were seized in a bus coming from Iraq via Saudi Arabia. “The Public Prosecution remanded four of five suspects pending their trial by the Higher Criminal Court. Four of the suspects were accused of possessing explosives, while the fifth was charged with involvement in committing the crimes,” he said.

Three suspects and a minor were charged with importing explosive materials, as well as devices, tools and equipment used in manufacturing them, with the intention of using them to subvert public order and achieve terrorist purposes.

“The charges levelled against the defendants are based on the witnesses’ statements, the seized materials’ examination reports, the confessions of the suspects in custody, including the minor, as well as the fingerprints lifted from the seized items and which matched those of the fifth suspect, who is abroad,” he added.

The Advocate General said that the suspects would stand trial on June 25, adding that a warrant had been issued to arrest the fifth suspect, who is still at large.
