ISB to hold UNESCO theme exhibition at Mega Fair

Manama : The Indian School Bahrain (ISB) will put up an exhibition on UNESCO’s theme of  ‘Sustainable Development and Environment’ during the ISB Mega Fair and Food Festival, to be held on April 29 and 30. Students from all classes will showcase their creativity and talents through working models during the exhibition.

This was announced by Indian School Chairman Prince S Natarajan and Principal VR Palaniswamy at a press conference yesterday. The Indian School is a member of the UNESCO Associated Schools Project Network (UNESCO ASPnet), which promotes best living practices through education.

School Secretary Dr. Shemily P. John said, “The creative minds of the students have to be channelised and social commitments have to be a priority in the lives of all our students to leave behind an inhabitable world for the future generations.”

This exhibition will be open to the public on both the days from 4pm to 6.30pm.

Natarajan added, “The event is for a good cause. The proceeds from the fair will be utilised to extend fee concessions for needy students and for staff welfare. Many people have joined hands to make this event a grand success.”

Fair General Convener G K Nair stated, “All preparations have been completed and we are expecting a crowd of about 200,000. This fair will be a historical event.’

As part of the Fair, the Indian Food festival, a gastronomical treat, awaits everyone. One will find delicious Indian dishes during the event.

The fair will also feature music concerts on both the days. The range of activities and shows will appeal to all sections of society.

The star attraction of the occasion will be a concert featuring South Indian playback singers – Vineeth Sreenivasan, Akhila Anand and Arun Raj - who will perform on the first day. Shilpa Rao and Vipin Aneja will enthrall the audience on the next day. The Fair will be open to the public on both days from 4pm to 11pm.

The icing on the cake will be the mega prize, which is part of the entry-cum-raffle ticket.  The first prize for the raffle is a stunning Mitsubishi Outlander, sponsored by Zayani Motors.

The draw for the lucky prizes will be held on April 30.
