Indian Embassy hosts 'Viksit Bharat Run' and Cleanliness Drive

The Embassy of India in Bahrain organized the 'Viksit Bharat Run' on September 18, 2026, as part of the nationwide 'Seva Pakhwada' celebrations observed from September 17 to October 2. The event, an initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, brought together members of the Indian diaspora in a display of unity, fitness, and civic responsibility.
Led by Mr. Rajiv Kumar Mishra, Charge d'Affaires, the 3-kilometer community run saw enthusiastic participation from around 200 members of the Indian diaspora, including representatives from Samskruthi – Bahrain. The event aimed to promote healthy and active lifestyles while strengthening community engagement and collective responsibility among expatriates.
A key highlight of the gathering was the collective recitation of the 'Viksit Bharat Pledge'. Participants reaffirmed their dedication to supporting India's transformation into a fully developed nation by 2047, emphasizing self-reliance and nation-building from abroad.
Following the run, the Embassy extended the spirit of service by conducting a 'Swachhata Hi Seva' campaign. Community members actively joined a park cleaning drive, underscoring the importance of environmental upkeep, sustainable surroundings, and responsible citizenship.
