Bahrain Condemns Houthi Attacks on Saudi Arabia

Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned the escalating terrorist attacks carried out by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia, including repeated and deliberate attempts to target civilians and civilian infrastructure in Riyadh and the cities of Bish, Taif, Farasan and Yanbu.

The ministry said the attacks constitute a flagrant violation of international law, international humanitarian law, the UN Charter and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

Bahrain reaffirmed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures taken by the Kingdom to safeguard its sovereignty, security and stability and protect citizens and residents, in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter.

The ministry stressed that Saudi Arabia’s security and stability are an integral part of Bahrain’s national security. It also praised the readiness and capabilities of the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces in confronting the attacks, including the successful interception and destruction of a ballistic missile launched by the Houthis towards Riyadh.

Bahrain also renewed its call on the UN Security Council to fulfil its responsibilities by taking a firm position to halt repeated Houthi attacks targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, hold those responsible accountable, and implement relevant Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216.
