Bahrain and India Explore New Legal Cooperation Avenues

Council for International Dispute Resolution chief meets India’s Law and Justice Minister in New Delhi

Professor Marike Patrani Paulsson, Secretary General of the Council for International Dispute Resolution, held a high-level meeting with Arjun Ram Meghwal, India’s Minister of State for Law and Justice and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, during her participation in the UNCITRAL Celebratory Conference in India.

The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of India in the legal, judicial and investment sectors.

Discussions covered areas of mutual interest, including promoting investment flows, enhancing legal and judicial collaboration, and developing modern mechanisms for resolving international disputes.

Both sides explored ways to support cross-border investments, deepen institutional partnerships and identify future cooperation opportunities between Bahrain and India.

The meeting was attended by Anna Joubin-Bret, Secretary of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL); R. Venkataramani, Attorney General of India; Dr. S. Jaishankar, India’s Minister of External Affairs; Dr. Pinky Anand, former Additional Solicitor General of India and Judge at the Bahrain International Commercial Court; and Mahdi Jaafar, representative of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain in New Delhi.
