Attempt to traffic 7 Pakistanis into Bahrain foiled

Nine people were recently arrested by the Saudi authorities for attempting to human smuggle Pakistani workers to Bahrain through King Fahad Causeway.

Security authorities in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia announced recently that “a corrupted customs officer was arrested for receiving bribe to facilitate labour trafficking of seven Pakistani nationals into the Kingdom of Bahrain through King Fahad Causeway.”

Reliable sources confirmed to our sister newspaper Al Ayam that the man received SR50, 000 (around BD5000) to facilitate the men's entry to Bahrain through the causeway last Friday.

According to sources, the mastermind behind the operation was a Pakistani resident in Saudi Arabia who is wanted in several criminal cases there.

The Secret Police Agency in Dammam was apparently tipped-off about the suspect’s intention to human smuggle the Pakistani labourers, kept him under surveillance and foiled the operation exactly at 2am on Friday on King Fahad Causeway.

“All the involved parties were referred to the concerned authorities and legal proceeding are underway,” sources added.
