Where History Meets Creativity in Bahrain
The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities has concluded its International Museum Day celebrations, held this year under the theme “Museums Unite a Divided World.”
The programme highlighted the role of museums as cultural institutions that strengthen national identity, preserve human civilisation and history, and promote knowledge, art and heritage. Through a series of cultural activities, the authority reinforced its vision of making museums permanent destinations for education, creativity and cultural appreciation.
The celebrations featured guided tours and interactive workshops at the Bahrain National Museum, Bahrain Fort Site Museum and the Post Museum. Kanoo Museum also participated as part of a cultural partnership between the public and private sectors.
As part of efforts to promote cultural tourism, the authority organised a tour of the 52nd Bahrain Annual Fine Arts Exhibition, currently being held at the Bahrain National Museum until the end of May.
The exhibition attracted large numbers of art enthusiasts and specialists from various artistic fields, reflecting growing engagement with creativity and the arts across generations. The annual exhibition serves as a platform showcasing works by established artists and emerging talents in painting, photography, video art and other disciplines.
Meanwhile, the Post Museum hosted a special tour exploring the history of postal services in Bahrain and key milestones in the sector’s development.
To strengthen the connection between younger generations and museums, the Bahrain National Museum organised educational tours and interactive art workshops for children, aimed at deepening their understanding of cultural identity and heritage.
