Bahrain Reaffirms Strong EU Partnership

Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs  participated in a diplomatic gathering with ambassadors of European Union member states accredited to Bahrain, hosted by H.E. Dr. Andreas Iliadis, Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus in Manama, marked the approaching end of Cyprus's presidency of the Council of the European Union.


At the outset of the meeting, Dr. Al Zayani praised the Cypriot embassy for organising the diplomatic event, commending Cyprus for its efforts in advancing peace, security and prosperity during its leadership of the European Council. He also wished the Republic of Cyprus continued development and success.

The Foreign Minister highlighted the strong and steadily growing partnership between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the European Union across multiple sectors. He reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment to enhancing cooperation and strengthening coordination with the EU, particularly within the United Nations Security Council during Bahrain’s non-permanent membership.

Dr. Al Zayani also welcomed the European countries’ condemnation of Iranian attacks targeting Bahrain, Gulf Cooperation Council countries and Jordan. He praised the EU’s position calling on Iran to end such actions and reopen the Strait of Hormuz to maritime navigation in accordance with international law and the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

He stressed the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in resolving regional crises, underscoring the need for collective international efforts to end conflicts in the Middle East and preserve global peace, security and stability.
