Bahrain will introduce new licensing rules for radiation workers, safety officers, experts and related service providers under decisions issued by the Supreme Council for Environment and published in the Official Gazette.
Under the framework, anyone involved in radiation work exceeding 30 per cent of the annual dose limit must obtain a licence. Professionals are classified into radiation workers, protection officers and qualified experts, each with specific training and experience requirements.
Licences will be valid for three years and may be renewed, suspended or revoked in cases of non-compliance.
