Expat Jailed in Assault Case

The First Criminal High Court of Appeal upheld a one-year prison sentence against an Asian expatriate in an assault case that resulted in a permanent disability, and ordered his deportation after he serves his sentence.
The 37-year-old defendant was convicted of assaulting a 56-year-old Asian security guard on 10 September 2025. A forensic medical report indicated the incident left the victim with a 4% permanent disability.
Prosecutors said the incident occurred while the victim was on duty at a residential building. The defendant reportedly arrived seeking access to operate a gas cylinder at his workplace but was denied entry based on instructions from the property sponsor.
He then allegedly forced his way in and assaulted the guard by twisting the fingers of his left hand.
The First Criminal High Court of Appeal has upheld a one-year prison sentence against an Asian expatriate, along with an order for deportation, after he was convicted in an assault case that resulted in a permanent disability assessed at 4%.
