Bahrain Ambassador Participates in UNESCO Executive Board Session in Paris
Essam Abdulaziz Al Jassim, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the French Republic and Permanent Delegate to UNESCO, took part in the 224th session of UNESCO’s Executive Board held in Paris.
During the general debate, the ambassador delivered Bahrain’s statement, strongly condemning recent Iranian attacks targeting Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. He noted that the attacks resulted in civilian casualties and damage to key infrastructure, including educational institutions, describing them as a clear violation of international laws and a threat to regional stability.
Al Jassim highlighted that the continued attacks have intensified challenges related to safeguarding vital sectors such as education, media, and cultural heritage, including archaeological sites.
He also outlined the Kingdom’s proactive efforts to ensure the continuity of education, maintaining both access and quality despite ongoing challenges.
At the international level, he referred to the adoption of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026), stating that it reflects global commitment to upholding stability and reinforcing international law. He reaffirmed Bahrain’s support for education, culture, and communication as essential pillars for development and international cooperation.
