Sewer Network Coverage Passes 93pc in Manama

Sewage network coverage in the First Constituency of the Capital Governorate stands above 99pc, while the rate across the governorate as a whole is about 93pc, the Ministry of Works said in a reply to MP Mohammed Janahi on infrastructure works in the area.

The ministry’s reply also listed road jobs being carried out, planned schemes still in the pipeline, and maintenance works across Manama, Salmaniya and Hoora, alongside projects finished in 2025 at a total cost of BD323,000.

One of the main road jobs now being carried out is the upgrade of Road 709 in Block 307 in Manama. The ministry said the work had reached 25pc and was expected to cost BD220,000. It includes road improvements, car parks, a rainwater drainage system, pedestrian pavements, and better lighting and road markings.

It also referred to future schemes, including the upgrade of Al Fateh Highway towards Sewage network coverage in the First Constituency of the Capital Governorate stands above 99pc, while the rate across the governorate as a whole is about 93pc, the Ministry of Works said in a reply to MP Mohammed Janahi on infrastructure works in the area.

It also referred to future schemes, including the upgrade of Al Fateh Avenue towards Shaikh Hamad Bridge once designs are done, as well as works on Road 715 in Block 307 and Road 1805 in Block 318 in Hoora. The ministry said these schemes would raise the standard of roads and junctions and add the linked services.

On maintenance, it said about BD270,000 had been earmarked to restore a number of roads in Manama, Salmaniya and Hoora. The work includes stripping the current asphalt layer, laying a new surface, and improving the service works linked to those roads.

The ministry said it gives weight to service and improvement works aimed at raising quality of life, adding that schemes are chosen by looking at building density, technical capacity, order of need, and approved budgets, in coordination with the Capital Trustees Board and municipal councils.

It added that it would keep working with Parliament to meet public needs within its remit and press on with projects meant to keep infrastructure in step with urban and investment growth in Bahrain. once designs are done, as well as works on Road 715 in Block 307 and Road 1805 in Block 318 in Hoora.
